HEALTH AND BEAUTY

Parfum et cosmetique

Perfumes / Cosmetics

The sector of beauty and personal care products (Perfumes and Cosmetics) is one of the main sectors affected by counterfeiting and parallel markets.

On the European market, this industrial sector estimates the annual loss of revenue to be 4.7 billion euros, due to counterfeit products. Personal care products (sun creams, shampoos, etc.) are also adversely affected by counterfeiting, and are reported to constitute 7.8% of sales in this sector.

Apart from the direct impacts of counterfeiting (reduced revenues, lower margins), indirect impacts can sometimes be just as devastating:

• Loss of jobs
• Reduction in government tax revenues (business tax, VAT, etc.)

Challenges for perfume and cosmetics brands

• Constant and rapid growth of parallel markets and counterfeiting.
• Communicate about the composition of the products, their nature and origin.
• Guarantee traceability in order to protect consumers’ health.
• Create and maintain links with the customer: personalized experience, communication with the brand (advice, questions), etc.

To respond to these challenges, Arjo Solutions has been working with the biggest perfume and cosmetics brands for several years, and offers innovative solutions:

Lutter contre la contrefaçon de médicaments et des produits pharmaceutiques

PHARMACEUTICALS

Counterfeiting and parallel markets in medicines and medical products are problems that have a worldwide impact. They directly threaten the health of individuals, and the consequences can sometimes be appalling. The World Health Organization estimates that between 100,000 and 1 million people die each year due to counterfeit medication. Although all categories of medication are affected, the drugs most frequently targeted by tampering are anti-malaria medicines, anti-AIDS treatments and medication for cardiovascular diseases. Therefore the poorest countries are the most severely affected, although counterfeit drugs are also sold in the richer countries. In these wealthier countries, the counterfeiters focus more on less essential products, such as vitamin supplements.

The image of pharmaceutical laboratories as well as their margins is also severely affected. According to one study, sales of counterfeit medication represent 75 billion dollars per year.

Challenges for the pharmaceutical laboratories

• Combat counterfeiting of medication
• Guarantee integrity of boxes
• Comply with international regulations concerning serialization and aggregation.
• Guarantee traceability in order to protect consumers’ health.
• Create and maintain links with patients: information about the drug, dosage.
